the problem with suicide
is that it devalues life
and when you devalue life
you make life worth less
for those still living
and that pisses them off

there is a problem with drink
or any substance you abuse
where you can make off with loot
that you choose
or so it seems to me
that is what they think

there are problems everywhere
sex, marriage, jobs, war
the interest rate,
or the weather
it never ends
and these problems could be solved

with a knife, a gun, an atom bomb
a pen, a post, a look
an uncomfortable hug, even
cancel, annul, bequeath
sweep it under your sheets
kick the used condom under the rug

there is a problem with how we speak
how we touch on the minds of kids
how we reach into the hearts
of the best of us
or the worst, the loneliest,
the forgotten worms
and we can fix those problems

with spikes for the homeless
with sheets for the dead
undead eyes and lies that say stuff like
it wasn't meant to be, too young
too old, too wonderful, too bold
and there aren't any solutions
to these problems

but don't give up yet
there is still a chance

you get to piss them off
